NASHVILLE, TN (February 19, 2021) — Nashville-based artist/songwriter Shantell Ogden has released One Step Closer: Songs to Recover By an acoustic album with songs about the journey of addiction recovery. The nine-song album was fully fan-funded and was released on February 19.

The album can be purchased or streamed at:

Each song tells a relevant story about addiction; from the gritty rock bottom of "St. Augustine" and "High Way Calls" to the hopeful "One Step Closer" and "Hand Up." Most families have experienced drug and alcohol addiction including Shantell's.

"Some of the most disturbing headlines during the pandemic have been about the increase in overdose and addiction due to stress, financial strain, depression, and isolation," said Shantell. "These songs shed a light on the struggles of addiction. There's a kind of catharsis and validation in hearing raw emotions expressed in a song - music is powerful."

Hundreds of albums will be donated to those in recovery programs across the U.S. In addition, fan-funded concerts are also being planned to share the music live.

"It is our hope that this music will touch hearts and inspire healing," added Shantell.

The album is already receiving rave reviews:

"Shantell Ogden is perfectly suited for such an ambitious project with her perceptive songwriting and a voice layered with empathy and hope. This is what classic country music is all about.“ - Lyndon Bolton, Your Life in a Song

"This is an album that helps to combat addiction, fears and anxieties and serves as a reminder that with the bad comes the good and to hold onto your loved ones as you travel through the ups-and-downs of life" - Alan Cackett, British Country Music Hall of Fame

"This is the ‘real deal’ Country Music...essential listening; especially if you or someone you know is struggling with any form of addiction.” - Alan Harrison, The Rocking Magpie
